SBS Steel Belt Systems S.r.l. is key partner of the innovative project GLOW (glow-project.eu/).
Together with strong market players in the field of resins, such as Megara Resins S.A. in Greece (www.megararesins.com) and Israel Barter Trading Co. Ltd. in Israel (www.ibt-il.com), and well established research/academic institutions such as NCSR “Demokritos” in Greece (www.demokritos.gr/) and the City University London (www.city.ac.uk), SBS is contributing to the ambitious goals of this innovative project which has the aim of developing a new generation of powder coatings also based on advances in nanotechnology.
The end product resulting from these activities will be mainly utilized in coatings for exterior building applications demanding high durability and stability.
SBS is mainly responsible for testing/validating the new materials in its pilot plant of Villafranca Tirrena (ME- Italy).
The cooperation with the other project partners allows SBS to develop for the first time the continuous quality control of the end product, in line at each stage of the process. Until now the whole range of parameters is checked in the laboratory of Villafranca Tirrena (ME – Italy) in batch mode.
The project moreover involves the professional and cross-cultural training of SBS engineers specialized in powder coating business, who have the opportunity to meet with colleagues from different Countries and diversify their skills and experiences, thanks to the established personnel exchanges.
SBS Steel Belt Systems S.r.l. is key partner of the innovative project ECOGEL CRONOS (www.ecogelcronos.eu/)
Together with Aimplas in Spain, Ecoinnova in Spain, Megara Resins in Greece plus other Research Institutes, market players and end users in different Countries within the EU, SBS is contributing to the success of this innovative project, which has the goal of researching and experimenting the application of powder coating of new generation.
The end product resulting from these activities will be mainly utilized in the outer surface of composites parts used in the car and heavy vehicles industries.
SBS is taking care of the tests of the trial material in its pilot plant of Villafranca Tirrena (ME – Italy) and of the extrusion and production of prototype lots of product.
This last activity allows SBS to try innovative configurations of its extruder, expressly developed for this type of powder coating.
This project is moreover relevant for the education and the cultural exchange of SBS engineers dedicated to the powder coating business, who have the opportunity to meet with colleagues of different Countries and experiences thanks to the established secondments.
